Reginald Wright

I am Reginald Wright and I was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina. After one year my father wanted a better life for his family and a different, safer place of scenery so he packed us all up and moved us to Wake Forest, North Carolina. It was there, where I stayed my whole life, is where I developed a knack for entertaining and making everyone and anyone who was around him laugh their socks off. Due to a big mixture of races at my school I learned how to appeal to different types of audiences and what makes people laugh and what doesn’t. I was a theatre student first when I walked into the building, mainly because that was my first class every semester but of course I was always into the theatre and working the shows and being in them of course. It was there where I also learned what “type cast” was because I was only in comedy productions, which wasn’t bad but I wanted to do other roles that broadened my acting abilities. At the North Carolina National Theatre Conference I won awards for “best male acting performance” and “best male actor” for my performance in “The Wizard of OZ” as the cowardly lion. Also an athlete as well I played football and basketball so I had the athletic ability as well during my time in school. After graduating in 2017, I was accepted into the number one historical black college in the nation, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. There I took my acting to the next level getting all the classes and techniques down and screwing in the bolts on my acting abilities. I also deepened my love for comedy by digging into a lot more of the comedy and even considering stand up comedy. Walter Latham, who put on legendary stand up comedy shows such as “The Kings of Comedy” and “The Queens of Comedy” with hall of fame worthy names such as D.L. Hughley, Steve Harvey, Bernie Mac, Cedric the Entertainer, Sommore, Adele Givens, Laura Hayes, and Monique. After the class presented their stand up, he chose two people he thought who’s stand up was the most natural and felt like was the best and he stood up and the first name he said was “Reginald Wright” so it felt a little surreal to hear someone like that gimme that type of recognition. In my life I want to achieve success not only in the movies and television world but everything that involves entertainment, radio, stand up, etc. I want to be a household name when it comes to the acting and entertainment industry. I’ve always had this vision of someone being in a movie theatre and saying “DANG! RJ is always in everything!”, I want to be that hard working of an actor, there is no boundary or limits to my abilities in front of the camera. My goal is to one day have my own sitcom show, when I think about the show I envision it being just like “Martin” where when there’s different characters that appear on the show they will be played by me, I’ll play a woman, a crazy store clerk, the landlord, every character will be more funnier and crazier than the next but they will all be played by me. In the end I just want to be one of the most hardest working and most consistently successful actors to ever do it. My main goal is at the end of my career for everyone to say “RJ is the funniest actor all of time”. I love acting and I love being able to capture audiences and I want my years of mastering comedy to be recognized to the highest standard to even the level of “the greatest comedian to ever grace the industry”.
